Debutant Yerwanthere swept around the outside of the field to make a winning debut in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies & Mares Maiden at Leopardstown.
Trained by Patrick Foley, the daughter of Markaz was held up in the early stages of the race under jockey Luke McAteer. When asked for her effort, she responded instantly and showed a smart turn of foot to quicken away from her rivals.
A half-sister to the stables smart gelding Yermanthere, the three-year-old filly should be capable of improving with this race under her belt.
Favourite Sareeha gave chase up the inside rail but could find no extra as the Foley trained filly pulled out that bit more.
Foley said, “We like her a lot and she ran like she works. She works like a very, very good filly. She’s a half-sister of Yermanthere who was rated 92 and this is probably a better filly than him.
“She’s a very straight forward filly, very sound and easy to train. She’s definitely Listed class and the best I’ve had.
“She was very mature and professional but should improve a lot from this. She is not ground dependant either.
“Luke thinks she would have no bother stepping up to a mile but the gears she shows I would keep her at seven. She has options.”
