Sent off the 8/11 favourite, Subzero just about got the job done in the Live Music At McDonnells Bar Newbridge Irish EBF Maiden.
Second on his return to action at Leopardstown earlier this month, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Galileo colt made all under Ryan Moore and was pushed along from the two furlong pole.
Ridden and pressed with over a furlong to go, he was all out at the line to hold off the late surge of the John Murphy-trained Space Age (10/1) by a neck.
Sent off at 33/1, Hotaugustnight ran a huge race on debut, finishing another length away in third.
Chris Armstrong representing Aidan O’Brien said: "It was nice to get the win with him. He ran well the last day in Leopardstown and is coming forward with every run. Ryan gave him a lovely ride.
"We'll let him work through the grades, find a little handicap for him and progress in his own time.
"It's nice to get the big weekend off to a winning start and hopefully it continues."
The winner is out of Different League who beat Alpha Centauri in the 2017 running of the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and was subsequently placed on two occasions at the highest level.
