Well-bought Bated Moon (11/2) scored on career debut today, landing Cork's Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden for Bronson Racing, jockey Declan McDonogh and trainer Joseph O'Brien.
A €14,000 yearling and out of a French winning dam, the Bated Breath-filly today carried just 8st10lb due to her cheap purchase price and raced prominently throughout before beating fellow newcomer Launch by a neck.
Afterwards O'Brien's assistant Brendan Powell reported “she did it well and has been doing everything well at home. Above all, she has a great temperament.
“Declan said she was spinning on the ground in the final furlong and said she has coped with it but wouldn't really like it.
“She was a cheap filly but has an engine and she travels, relaxes and has a turn of foot. She was a bit green when she was left in front but all she can do is improve, in every way.”
