Winner Takes Itall has obviously not been the easiest to train but connections can look forward to better times ahead with the dual purpose gelding after a convincing victory in division one of the It’s Not Rocket Science With Mansionbet Maiden at Gowran Park.
The son of Nathaniel showed promise in a couple of outings as a three-year-old and was then absent for 12 months before switched to hurdles and subsequently winning at Listowel.
Trained by Joseph O’Brien for J P McManus, he ran much better than the finishing position would suggest when last seen in a Navan handicap last November and successfully reverted back to the Flat here in some style.
The 15/8 chance made smooth headway to challenge in the straight and led a furlong out before drawing clear under Shane Crosse to beat Yenillik by four and a quarter lengths.
Nan Yehi was a further length back in third.
Crosse was delighted saying, “That was impressive. We knew he was a nice horse coming into today and rode him like the best horse in the race.
“He’s a horse that stays further and is one to look forward to. He has plenty of options now between the Flat and over hurdles.”
