Bottom weight U Asking Me came out on top in Clonmel's Tickincor Handicap Hurdle today, as trainer Eoin Doyle's 16/1 shot benefitted from a recent wind operation, scoring under Hugh Morgan.
A grandson of prolific English Cambridgeshire winner She's Our Mare, U Asking Me had previously won a Tyrella point-to-point in January 2023 and today, rated just 80, ended a disappointing run of recent form when defeating runner-up Hatfield Hammer by 3.5 lengths.
Doyle trains the seven-year-old for the Your The One Syndicate and afterwards Morgan reported “Eoin and the lads had him in good nick and he had his wind done after his last run. In fairness to Philip Enright (jockey) after his last run he said to get it done so credit to him and it made the difference.
“He had previously shown snippets of form and his work at home had been good, but had been disappointing on the track. That was grand, they went a good gallop and I was just hunting away the whole way. I was able to find my way through them and then had something (Hatfield Hammer) to aim at.”
