On the day he lost his beloved Istabraq, Win Some Lose Some provided JP McManus with a timely success in the Neville Hotels Ladies Handicap Hurdle.

Available at 11/4 in early shows, the five-year-old son of Champs Elysees eventually went off the 15/8 favourite under top amateur Aine O'Connor.

Settled in mid-division, the Padraig Roche-trained victor made a mistake six flights from the finish, taking closer order on the run to four out.

Short of room on the inner behind the leaders approaching the straight, the successful market leader was angled out before the second last and some came with his challenge.

In a share of the lead before the last, he soon got to the front and asserted on the run-in, coming home four-and-a-half lengths clear of the David Christie-trained Menindee

The runner-up was returned at 25/1 under Sophie Carter, while Western Model (10/1) was a neck away in third with Georgie Benson aboard for Paul Nolan.

Maite Sarah Laubies was attended to on the track for sometime after her fall from Duchamps Art at the last. She was later transferred to hospital.

"That was great. Aine gave him a great ride. She said they went plenty fast, she took her time and just picked up the pieces," Roche explained.

"That was an ordinary race, but he done it well and is improving. He won’t be going to Galway, we will stay as small as we can, for as long as we can.

"He is a grand horse and my mother bred him so it's great."

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident approximately three furlongs from the finish involving Win Some Lose Some, ridden by Miss A.B. O'Connor, placed first, Western Model, ridden by Miss G. Benson, placed third, and A Mere Bagatelle ridden by Caragh Monaghan, unplaced, where it appeared A Mere Bagatelle may have suffered interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

Miss J. Townend, rider of Schiehallion trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that her mount hung right throughout.
