Will Jamie Run wins for Stafford/Maxwell
The Paul Stafford trained Will Jamie Run made use of a favourable handicap hurdle mark at Fairyhouse today, easily winning the Solerina's Restaurant Handicap Hurdle under promising conditional jockey Conor Maxwell.
Successful in a competitive chase event at Thurles last month, Will Jamie Run raced from a hurdle mark 25lbs below his 128 chase rating and had little difficulty accounting for Instinctive by seven lengths.
Afterwards Stafford stated “Will Jamie Run was entitled to win that from his hurdle mark. Conor (Maxwell) said he wasn't in love with the ground but it was a good opportunity today. The Irish Grand National is his aim and hopefully he'll be rated high enough to get into the race.”
The win was Maxwell's 12th of the season, his best seasonal tally todate.
