Danesfort Mayfly benefitted from a calm ride by Danny Mullins to overcome some traffic problems and open her account at the seventeenth attempt under Rules in the 2025 Group Package Deals Online Handicap Hurdle at Tramore.
The Bill Lanigan-trained mare was continually pestered by the loose Fortuna Lora (unseated rider at the fourth hurdle) but got on top in the closing stages to beat He Fitz In by two and a half lengths.
Dual course winner Rochestown looked a big threat when challenging in the dip but couldn’t find any extra inside the final furlong finishing a further half a length back in third.
Mullins said, “We had plenty of hassle on the way around, but it was a good performance.
“The loose horse gave me hell for about a circuit and a half and lucky enough she got through the wings of the second last and the last (both omitted due to the low laying sun) and she ran out a good winner.”
