Wildcat Kitten racing for Dermot Weld off a basement mark of 47, was made 5/4 favourite for the extended mile and one handicap in Gowran and he got the job done comfortably.
He was heavily backed in Navan last-time out, but had to switch out from behind horses before staying on well for fifth.
In today’s assignment he carried 8-10 and chased Punch Bag and Hazel Blue who disputed the lead throughout. At the two marker Pat Smullen rode him into the lead and the pair forged on to score by two lengths from Caliso Bay (4/1) who was unable to get on terms. Smullen was able to ease him down close home. There was another four and a half lengths to Prince Art in third at 16/1.
Pat Smullen said: “He is getting it together now. He ran a good race the last day at Navan. He probably didn't get much luck in running there, but that's the way it goes and he got his luck today.”
