Whos To Know wins Fairyhouse opener
The opening Winter Festival 2009 Mares Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse today went to the John Berry trained Whos To Know who benefited from a well judged ride from amateur jockey Mark Scallan.
Scallan had Whos To Know racing prominently, improved to lead entering the straight, eventually keeping the daughter of Bravefoot up to her work on the run-in, for a three parts of a length win over Annie May
Afterwards former Champion Point to Point rider Berry, who famously rode all six winners in one day at a meeting Caim, stated “Whos To Know will go for a little handicap next and is for sale. She is a half sister to Lord Maizey, who won five races.”
He added “I'm delighted for Mark (Scallan) as he works with me and is a good lad. That was only his third ride back after breaking his leg and his fourth racecourse winner.”
