White hot Curtis finds another Diamond
Ben Curtis moved two ahead of both Gary Carroll and Joseph O'Brien in the apprentice championship when recording his 35th winner of the campaign aboard White Diamond in the ten furlongs' fillies handicap at Navan this afternoon.
Curtis made virtually all on the Andy Oliver-trained filly, and she stuck her head out gamely in the final furlong to hold off Boulay by a length with Boynagh Joy just a short-head further back in third.
“We had to put her away after running her on quickish ground as a two-year-old. I was a bit afraid of the ground drying out but she's very honest and kept on well. She's in again over a mile and a half at Leopardstown next Monday, and is also in the Doncaster Sales,” said the trainer.
