Jockey Ronan Whelan completed an opening races double at Sligo today as he steered Krispen to win the Taylor Engineering Median Auction Race for Tim Doyle.
Whelan, earlier successful in the opening claimer on The Lords Walk made all on Kripsen, a son of Foofstepsinthesand, and in the end the pair went on to record a two and a quarter lengths win over Wentwood
Afterwards Doyle stated “the rain probably helped as he won on similar ground in Navan last year. I think he’ll go on good ground but the rain was no harm.
“He’s after developing well over the winter, and he progressed from the run in Listowel. I saw this race a couple of months ago, and the conditions suited him.
“I was pleased with that as he went to the line strong. He’s built like a sprinter so we may even go back a bit in trip.”
