Seventeen year old Ronan Whelan recorded his fifth win when winning the Foxrock Handicap aboard Via Archimede

Whelan made most aboard the son of Hussonet and the 12/1 shot kept on well under a strong drive to hold off the fast finishing Alajan by a head.

Ger Flynn who was representing winning trainer Jim Bolger said afterwards: “He’s in the July Sales next week. We’ve given him a pop over hurdles and he jumps well.”

“He appreciated the step up in trip and Ronan [Whelan] said he handled the ground well.”
