What a good week for the Cats as Condon makes it 2
Ken Condon moved on to the 20 winner mark for the campaign and after earlier saddling his first Laytown winner with Smoky Cloud he doubled his score with the Mikey Fogarty-ridden Curl Cat in the Hibernia Steel (Q.R.) Race. Of course the stable earlier sent out Marvada to finish fourth in the Group 3 at Doncaster behind Alanza.
Backed from 9/4 into 7/4, last week's Clonmel scorer, Curl Cat made all under Fogarty. However he was all out at the finish to hold off An Saighdiur by the minimum margin.
Condon said: "He ran in March of last year and got hurt. He came back in the spring and like any athlete that gets an injury or two it takes its toll.
"When he came back he was rated 75 or 6 and he was running his races without being competitive. The handicapper then gave him a chance and he came into a bit of form.
"He ran very well at Wexford to be 2nd and then he won at Clonmel last time.
"Perseverance has paid off as he hadn't won in 2 years and now he's won twice in a week.
"When they are fit and well there is no harm in running them.
"He stays well and I told Mikey to jump out and make it a good even gallop."
