Trainer Joe Murphy's horses have hit form in recent weeks and his Gustavus Weston landed the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Maiden at Fairyhouse today, under jockey Bill Lee.
Murphy's yard failed to fire this summer and while he endured a three months winner-less streak from June 3 to September 6, Gustavus Weston was the trainer's third winner in as many weeks, when quickening well for a two and a half lengths win over That's Not Me
Murphy later reported “I think he's a very nice horse. He's an improving sort and he'll go for the series final after that.
“I don't think he'll have any problem getting the seven and he's a very consistent genuine horse. He does what he does at home and reproduces it on the racecourse.
“He was green the first day and he came on and learned it himself. We didn't push him and he did it all himself.”
