Wentwood coasted home for Leigh Roche in the mile maiden for colts and geldings in Listowel.
The three-year-old son of 2011 Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi travelled powerfully in third behind Tremendous Leap and Cockalorum
He was asked for more at the two pole and readily moved to the front coming to the final furlong.
From there the race was over as he tanked home to win snugly, under a motionless Roche, by a length.
Dermot Weld 's gelding went off at 4/1 having contracted from as big as 9/1 this morning. Understate the 9/4 favourite, came in second but had no chance with the winner.
Tremendous Leap completed the placings in third at 3/1.
This was Wentwood's second start having finished seventh of 20 on debut at Leopardstown.
A pair of non runners - Charcor and Shifted Strategy - reduced this field to eight runners.
