He's with his fifth trainer now and has carried the well-known silks of Cheveley Park Stud and Mrs Margaret Findlay in the past and tonight Rocky's Pride gained the fourth win of his career in the second split of the Irish Stablestaff Association Awards 3rd March Handicap under Seamie Heffernan at Dundalk.
With the Jackpot guaranteed for €5,000, the win of Rocky's Pride ensured that one lucky punter scooped €3,750 for themselves. The six-year-old son of Rock Of Gibraltar soon led and he was ridden to assert over a furlong, keeping on well to beat Heroine Chic by a length and a quarter. Nicely-backed favourite Esytopolishadimond (5/1 this morning into 3/1) was half a length back in third.
Garvan Donnelly trains Rocky's Pride for Gerard Clarke and he said: "That's his grade. Seamie said to drop him back in trip and it's all down to him really.
"We were happy with the draw as he doesn't like to be boxed-in. He's a horse that likes to get his own way. We'll keep him to something similar if possible." (AM & EM)
