Well-backed Missliyna takes Dundalk finale
A big tall filly Missliyna is not surprisingly progressing with experience and the grey daughter of Rainbow Quest landed a gamble (6s into 7/2) in the concluding Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden at Dundalk under Johnny Murtagh.
Murtagh employed the big scopey filly's stride to good effect in the straight and in the end she ran out a convincing two and a half length winner from Sloane Street
Mick Halford trains Missliyna for the Aga Khan and he said: "She ran a lovely race at Cork earlier in the year but she was growing and was weak so we decided to give her a chance.
"She ran at Roscommon then and got bogged down in the ground – it was really bad there.
"Shane Foley rode her then and said that she might like it here.
"She travelled and quickened well and Johnny said he was always happy that she was going to win.
"She is due to go to the sales but she could come back here before that.
"As she has plenty of size and scope she should improve again."
