Beyond The Law made the breakthrough on his fifth start over flights, as he ran out an easy winner of the opener at Limerick, the Racing Post Maiden Hurdle.

Placed on two of his last four starts, the Mouse Morris trained bay was well-supported on-course, opening at 5/2, before going off a 7/4 chance under Bryan Cooper.

Settled behind the leaders, the winning son of Westerner improved to lead before the seventh, and eased clear before two out, keeping on well from there to score by twenty-two lengths. Allardyce finished second at 7/2 under Andrew Lynch for Edward O'Grady, while the 11/10 favourite Caro Des Flos was a very disappointing fifth with Danny Mullins aboard for his uncle Willie.

Morris said afterwards: "He jumps well and loves the ground, and he wasn't winning out of turn. He jumps well enough to run in a handicap but if the ground stays this soft we'll find a winners of one somewhere.

"We'll keep the options open but chasing is what I'm really looking forward to with him."

STEWARDS REPORTS

R.P. Treacy, rider of Percy Veer (GB) trained by E. McNamara, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got tired but stayed on.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Caro Des Flos (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Knocknarae King trained by Brian M. McMahon was lame on its right hind post race.
