J.P. McManus' Sir Bob was the well backed winner (morning 16/1, returned 13/2) of Punchestown's See You For Free On NYE Handicap Chase today, scoring in determined fashion under jockey Mark Walsh.
Beaten 43 lengths on a previous run on November 12, the 10 year old today returned to form when making use of a lower 104 chase rating than 120 hurdles' mark, defeating Temptationinmilan in a dogged battle from the second-last.
Winning trainer Robert Tyner later said “he travelled away well today and jumped well but he made hard work enough of it in the finish and Mark did a good job in getting him up. We’ll see how he is and try and find something similar for him.
“We have about 12 in at the moment, about six for the track and six for point-to-points. We have a few four-year-olds and a few five-year-olds. We’ll keep it at that. I changed my mind about stopping completely. It’s something to get us up in the morning and is a family run operation.”
