The Dermot Weld trained Shamreen followed up a recent course win with a second career success, in the Ladies Day June 18th Fillies Race at Gowran today, winning again under jockey Pat Smullen.
The Aga Khan owned filly won her maiden at the third attempt in April and showed good battling qualities to see off her two rivals. Smullen eventually pushed Shamreen clear for a three and three parts of a length win over Siamsaiocht with a further length and a quarter back to French Blue
Weld later stated “she's progressive and very consistent but the ground is a shade faster than she wants, and it's getting very fast out there.
"We will look for some black type with her now. She's adaptable, and is a lovely genuine filly."
