Making Light earned herself a crack at the Group One Matron Stakes with a comfortable victory in the Listed Goffs Platinum Stakes at Cork.
Declan McDonogh 's mount raced third behind Pincheck and Panstarr in this mile race worth 47,500 euro.
The four-year-old filly travelled powerfully and closed over two furlongs out and then readily took over with less than a quarter of a mile to go.
McDonogh pushed the 3/1 favourite clear in the final furlong and the pair passed the post three lengths to the good.
Pincheck could make no impression in second at 4/1.
Trainer Dermot Weld said: “That was a nice performance by her. She’s won two Group races and has had a summer break. She’s very fresh and well and she did it very impressively.
“She’s in the Matron (at Leopardstown) and I think that will be her next start. I wanted to run her today as it gives me a nice time as a prep for the Matron.
"She is very adaptable ground-wise. She is a good filly and very consistent.”
