Weld/Smullen win opener
The Dermot Weld trained Emulous made a winning debut when she landed the opening race, the TRM Fillies Maiden, at the Curragh this afternoon.
Pat Smullen sent the daughter of Dansili to the front a furlong and a half from home and kept on well to hold off the late challenge of Dance Hall Girl by one length.
Winning trainer Weld said afterwards: “She will probably run again this year in the Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown.”
“I think she will make a lovely stakes filly for next year.”
