Weld strikes again
Dermot Weld completed a double this evening after the gambled on Almolahek (8/1 - 11/2) came home in front in the Tote Jackpot Handicap under Pat Smullen in the familiar colours of Dr Ronan Lambe.
“Pat gave him a great ride and made all the right decisions and got the split. He handled the ground and stayed well,” said a delighted Weld.
Weld also revealed, “You could see this fellow back here in a maiden hurdle on Satu day.”
Almolahek gave the Galway specialist (Weld) his fourth winner of the festival so far which puts Weld straight in front for the leading trainer award and Pat Smullen has two winners on the board.
