Weld filly wins Curragh opener
The Dermot Weld trained Madhmoonah under Pat Smullen, showed the benefit of two previous runs to win the opening Foleys Antiques Naas EBF Fillies Maiden at The Curragh today.
The daughter Invincible Spirit moved to the front under a furlong out before staying on well to defeat promising newcomer Wading by a length and a quarter.
Afterwards Weld said “Madhmoonah did it nicely and is a good filly. It isn’t often one gets beaten at Killarney (when turned over having gone 1.01 in-running) and comes back to win at the Curragh!”
“The ease in ground helped her and the CL Weld Stakes here in a few weeks time will be her next race.”
