The first odds-on chance, General Marshall may have gone down on this seven race card but 2/5 shot Katimavik got it right in race four, the Next Racing At Fairyhouse October 11th Maiden.
The Pat Smullen ridden debutant Listowel fourth placer, may have dwelt leaving the stalls, but that was of little consequence as the Invincible Spirit colt was soon close up.
Smullen had to ask his mount to work over the last couple of furlongs but work he did to get the better of first-timer Sirikoi and the seemingly improved Emiest Rose by two lengths and a length.
Kris Weld, son of winning trainer Dermot, said: "The experience of his first run was a help in the last furlong plus he appreciated the lovely genuine good ground as he's a heavy horse. Another furlong or two would be no problem in time, and we'll look for a handicap next." (AM & EM)
