Massayan completed another good day’s work for Epsom Derby winning connections of trainer Dermot Weld, owner the Aga Khan and jockey Pat Smullen when landing the gowranpark.ie Rated Race at Gowan today.
The son of Iffraaj had gained his maiden win at Galway on September 5 and today showed the benefit of that previous hard-fought win with another battling display to get the better of Moonmeister for a head win.
Afterwards Weld, earlier successful with the Smullen ridden and Calumet Farm owned Queen Anne’s Lace in the opener, stated “he’s (Massayan) a very tough genuine colt and battled hard to win in Galway and he battled hard to win again today.
“It was a good performance and he'll maybe go for a handicap now.”
