Warrior battles to see off wayward Glinka
Kevin Prendergast's Famous Warrior rewarded plenty of market confidence (7/2 – 5/2) when steering a less than easy course to win an action-packed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery at Killarney today.
Eleven to ten favourite Mikhail Glinka was bidding to complete an Aidan O'Brien double and appeared to have the race well within his grasp when hitting the front early in the straight. However Mikhail Glinka veered alarmingly across the track over a furlong out, effectively losing his winning chance.
Eventual winner Famous Warrior himself met significant interference over three furlongs out, but stayed on strongly inside the final furlong to eventually win by three parts of a length.
Prendergast was not present for the win.
