- Walsh times it well on Taffy
Walsh times it well on Taffy
Uncle Taffy completed a quick double when claiming the Supermacs Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe.
Tony Martin's charge had scored at Cork on Friday and, after having the weekend off, turned out again to follow up this evening.
Ruby Walsh crept into contention on the 6/5 favourite and produced him with a perfectly timed run at the last.
He stayed on strongly on the run-in for a cosy two-length victory. 20/1 shot Rassi Maguire got up late on to win a bunch finish for second.
"I thought it might be asking him a bit too much coming out so soon," said Martin afterwards.
"It's great for the lads (Plenty of Spock Syndicate) who are from a GAA club in Dunboyne.
"He's entered at Perth on Sunday but we'll give him a break now. It'll be at least three weeks before he runs again."
