After his victory on Win Some Lose Some in the first division, Mark Walsh doubled up for owner J P McManus in the second split of the William Hill Epic Value Maiden Hurdle when Haveigotnewsforyou (14/1) got the better of a good tussle with Gaucher
The latter set out to make all the running but was joined at the last by the Colm Murphy-trained winner who edged ahead close home to score by a neck.
The five-year-old son of Milan had finished fifth on debut at Fairyhouse.
“He’d a nice run the first day and he’s improved from it, said Murphy. Hopefully he can keep improving.
“He probably doesn’t kill himself at home. He’s a big baby and has improved from a nice first run.
"He didn’t seem to mind the ground and we’ll dream on. We’ll have a chat and make a plan.”
