Walden the 9/10 favourite for northern trainer Ian Ferguson, hit the front four out in the maiden hunters’ chase in Downpatrick and stayed on well to score by four and three quarter lengths.
William Thompson was in the plate on the seven-year-old gelding who travelled well throughout. He beat Ballinahow Rover (33/1) and Supreme Danehill into second and third respectively in this two mile seven contest..
Handler Ian Ferguson said: “He is in at the Doncaster Sales so we’ll see what happens. We wanted to get another run into him. He was a bit disappointing as he wasn’t getting home in his races. Whether it was the ground I’m not sure, but he improved on that faster ground. It helped. He jumped slickly tonight. He’s a typical Winged Love in that the older they get the better they get.”
