After saddling Perfect Woman to win in Cork today, trainer Mick Winters spoke about his stable star Rebel Fitz who is recovering after an operation.
He said: "Rebel Fitz has had his operation and Ger Kelly in Fethard said it was a 50/50 operation. When he was galloping there was friction and he has the procedure done.
"He (Ger Kelly) says it is 50/50 on whether he comes right or not. You would want him to be 100 per cent. He said he was happy after the operation and I asked him 'what's your gut feeling?' and he said 'good' and that means a lot. We'll have an idea in about three months."
Rebel Fitz last ran on September 19th when sixth in a qualified riders' race in Listowel. In his career he has 18 wins from 30 runs including the Grade One Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse last year and the Grade A Galway Hurdle of 2012.
