Father and son team Tom and Rory Cleary teamed up as Nightly Wailing sprang a 25/1 shock in the two-mile handicap at Dundalk.
The Vocalised colt was fourth on his first outing at the course in December having been well held in testing conditions previously.
He travelled strongly into contention turning for home today and was driven into the lead over a furlong from home.
English raider Hediddodinthe the 10/3 favourite, chased him home in the closing stages but could only get within a length.
Tom Cleary said:- “I was giving him a bit of a squeak as he ran okay on his first run up here over a mile and a half.
“We gave him some time off and said we’d up him in trip. I wasn’t sure coming here tonight whether he’d need the run or not, and hopefully we’ll have some fun with him over the summer months.
“The plan all along was to pop him over a hurdle. He’s still a colt but is behaving himself and while he is we’ll leave him that way.”
