Wachman doubles up at Gowran

David Wachman recorded a quick double as Wardell recorded a convincing victory under Wayne Lordan in the BBQ Evening August 12th At Gowran Park Handicap.
The son of Rip Van Winkle was completing an 11/1 double for Wachman who was also on the mark just half-an-hour earlier with the Fran Berry-ridden Gussy Goose
Lordan tracked the pace on the well-backed 2/1 favourite (from 5/2) in this seven-furlong event, and found a nice gap to challenge a furlong out.
The Limerick maiden winner soon settled the issue and quickened clear in the final 100 yards to beat The Fairy by two and a quarter lengths. Ishebayorgrey was another length and three quarters back in third, while Danse Rouge made some good late headway to finish close up in fourth.
Lordan said, "He is a straightforward horse and while he made the running to win at Limerick, was a bit slowly away today and I wasn't able to lead. He picked up well though and will have no problem going a mile or a mile and a quarter."
