The 3/1 favourite Hurricane Darwin completed an unusual hat-trick when winning the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase for trainer Cormac Farrell.
The 12-year-old had won over the banks at the Punchestown festival before returning from his summer break to score over hurdles at Listowel.
Here, having been left in front after the fall of Whacker Clan two out, he got the better of a good tussle with Marshalled who had rallied to dispute the lead on the run-in. The latter had to give best close home and went down by a length with the first two well clear of the remainder.
Winning rider Paddy O'Hanlon said: “That was nice and he did it well. I was bit tight in over the last two but in fairness to him, for an old boy, he was good and game. Cormac was sweet on him.
“Even when I was in tight to the last he was game away from it and battled well.”
