Velocity swoops late for Lee double
Terminal Velocity caused a 33/1 shock in the Winders Electrical supporting KARE Maiden to complete a double at the Curragh for rider Billy Lee.
The Iffraaj gelding stepped up considerably on his debut at Cork last month, overcoming some trouble in running to lead inside the final furlong for a length and a half success over Fountain Of Honour (6/1). Ansgar the 100/30 favourite, attempted to make all in this mile and a quarter race but faded in the closing stages to finish another length and three quarters back in third.
Winning trainer Andrew Oliver said: “He's a very nice horse but was green and immature on his first run. The penny dropped and he was very professional today. I put the blinkers on just to concentrate his mind.”
