In the colours of his mother Anne Marie Joseph O’Brien sent out Velocidad to make a winning debut in the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden at Fairyhouse under Declan McDonogh.
The successful Gleneagles filly chased the leaders, and she was a close third travelling well two furlongs out.
Pushed along and leading a furlong and a half out, Velocidad was ridden clear a furlong out. She had a reduced advantage close home, keeping on to hold the strong finishing Tut Tut (down the outer) by half a length.
Stable representative Brendan Powell said: “We liked her at home. She had been away for a gallop and galloped nicely.
“She looked professional in every way. Declan said she broke well and got a nice position. She got a little bit tired in the last 150 yards but you'd expect that first time on that ground.
“She wouldn't be in love with that ground, she's actually a gorgeous mover and flicks the ground.
“She's gone and done it, how good the race was I don't know but she'll improve again for it and looks a nice filly going forward. You can't ask for any more than that first time and she has a great temperament.”
