Varian's hot streak continues at Fairyhouse

English trainer Roger Varian is only training winners these days and his Realtra added the featured Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse today to his recent Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes win with Nezwaah, in a memorable five day spell for the Newmarket handler.
Realtra benefitted from a brave ‘down-the-paint’ ride from jockey Colin Keane as the pair forced their way to the front, along the inner, inside the final furlong for a length and a quarter win over Golden Stunner
Varian wasn’t present but was represented by Sam Davis, travelling head lad, who later said “she could be better than a Group 3 filly but anything that we can pick up is a bonus for the owner and for breeding. She has won well today.
“Colin said that as soon as she got that gap she’s picked up and the further she’s gone the better she’s gone. The ground has come right as yesterday it was good to yielding but it’s good ground today and it’s gone in our favour.”
Realtra’s win was, amazingly, the seventh consecutive winner sent out by the St Leger winning trainer, whose successful run began at York on Saturday and has also included the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
