Valours Minion should be in the twilight of his career, but at the age of twelve Val O'Brien's charge continues to go from strength to strength, and he landed the most valuable event of the evening, the Follow Kilbegganraces On Twitter Handicap Chase, under Mark Enright.
After his 9/2 chance had got the better of Painted Lady by three lengths, a jocular O'Brien commented: "He'll be a grand horse next year!
"With a lucky run he could have won the Galway race, but this made up a little bit for it.
"We'll look at Killarney now. He's won twice there and likes the track."
The favourite, As De Pique was soon done with after pecking five out, and the 6/4 shot finished a tailed off last.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined As De Pique, trained by Gavin Cromwell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be cut on its right hind pastern.
