Universal Truth takes last at Punchestown
The final race at Punchestown this afternoon, The Rockview Q.R Flat Race, provided a thrilling finish with Dermot Welds Universal Truth (the eventual winner) battling it out with the Dessie Hughes trained Whispering Hills
McNamara took up the lead early on the Galileo gelding, strongly pressed from 3f out, travelling well straight, strongly pressed inside final furlong and kept on to hold off Whispering Hills under Paddy Kennedy by a short head.
Weld said afterwards, "He's a nice horse, that was the minium distance to keep us warm. We had the race well won he just got tired close home and nearly got caught. We will look for a 4 year old winners bumper with him next."
