Tynamite recorded a sixth career win at this venue when finishing strongly to land division two of the Dundalk Stadium Gift Vouchers Available Online Handicap at odds of 9/1.
The veteran Elnadim gelding was bridging a gap of two years since his last victory over the same course and distance, although it didn’t seem likely for much of the seven furlongs. Irish Rumour was all the rage with offers of 4/1 early this morning well taken and the 15/8 favourite was prominent throughout before leading over a furlong out.
However, Luke McAteer got a great tune out of Tynamite towards the far side and the nine-year-old gelding led close home to score by a head. Saoirses Lulaby was two and a quarter lengths back in third.
Winning trainer David Marnane said, "He had been running well. We had been talking about retiring him for a while but he keeps running third, fourth, fifth. He's a super horse at home, he's a good workhorse.
"A couple of good supporters have been in him a long time, but he shows up all the time.
"Luke is a very, very good rider. He's a class rider and is riding nearly all of ours. I'd have him every day of the week, I think he is fantastic. He is very much in the mould of Oisin Orr."
