Philip Reynolds’ Cheltenham festival winning colours were carried to success at Fairyhouse today when his Paul Nolan trained Tuzo landed the Buy Your 2017 Membership Today Handicap Hurdle under jockey Davy Russell.
Russell moved the son of Flemensfirth to the front at the second last and in the end the gelding galloped for a five and a half lengths win over Incitatum
Afterwards Nolan stated “he's done it well, and travelled away well. He's a horse that I thought a lot of but has had problems and it's just good to get him back to here.
"His jumping was terrible over hurdles all last year but he was very big and deliberate today and didn't seem to hit any of them. He should be better over fences.
"He could go for one of those Pertemps Qualifiers at Leopardstown or Punchestown."
Reynolds and Russell teamed up for Cheltenham festival success last March with Mall Dini who contests the later beginners’ chase today while Tuzo himself is declared to run over hurdles at Thurles tomorrow.
