The Nicole McKenna trained Modern Tutor bridged a gap of three years since his previous win, at Down Royal today, when supplying jockey Bill Lee with the second leg of a double in the Weatherbys Handicap.
The son of Selkirk had previously gained his initial two wins for Sir Michael Stoute in England, his latest in August 2013, and today gained a two and a quarter lengths win over Hatton Cross
McKenna, gaining her second winner as a trainer, later stated “he’s been crying out for rain and that's as good as he is but hopefully we can get another one or two out of him.
“I've no plans with him but we'll just look for something similar. It's great for the owner Richard Behan who is from Armagh.”
