- Turner Brown has the winning habit
Turner Brown has the winning habit
It may have taken ten attempts for Turner Brown to register a victory but now in the winning groove the Lahib gelding followed up a Downpatrick maiden success from back in August by taking the Punchestown Active Retirement Days Handicap Hurdle under Andrew Lynch.
The nicely supported Khayar (rider dropped whip 150 yards out) looked like he might prevail going to the last but he wasn't too clever there and soon had Turner Brown and Lightening Sky coming at him on either side. However Turner Brown with stamina his strong suit came home best to score.
Winning trainer Michael O'Hare said: "I was worried about the trip as I thought it might be too short for him. He did it well though, he stuck his neck out and jumped brilliantly. Andrew had loads of confidence going out.
"Hopefully he'll go to Cheltenham next for a two mile five conditional jockeys hurdle on the Friday of the November meeting."
