The (80-95) handicap hurdle produced a good finish with 3/1 favourite Trishknowsbest scoring by a head from longshot Brooklyn Balance
The Malinas mare, third at Downpatrick yesterday having scored under Keith Donoghue at that venue last month, had to fight her corner behind the leaders approaching two out.
Once in the clear, she made good headway under 7lb-claiming amateur Joey Dunne to challenge at the last and just found enough on the run-in to land the spoils. Maggie Walsh was a length and three quarters further back in third with Blackstone Cliff completing the frame.
James Griffin, assistant trainer to his father Patrick, said:- “The ground went against us yesterday up in Downpatrick.
“We thought she might have done it one day after the other. We were extremely lucky with the two races falling the way they fell because these races are very hard to get with the way the programme book is.
“She's just a mare in form and when they are like that you have to take every opportunity you get.
“She was tough there and Joey gave her a good ride. Joey is best friends with Keith and Ian Donoghue and their brother Ross. He rode it because Keith had to ride for Gavin (Cromwell).
