Trainer Gordon Elliott and Champion Owner J.P. McManus combined forces for the concluding legs of trebles for the pair as their Sutton Place justified 4/9 favouritism to win the closing Next Racing At Fairyhouse January 20th (Pro/Am) Bumper at Fairyhouse today.
The pair enjoyed a pair of winners 'apart' earlier in the day but combined with Sutton Place, under Jonathan Moore, in the concluding event, scoring by four and three parts of a length from Greco Romain
Elliott, earlier successful with maiden hurdle winners Tocororo and Myztique later stated “it's been a good day. He's (Sutton Place) a nice big horse — a big raw horse and whatever he does, he'll be a lovely horse with a summer's grass.”
“We'll probably not do too much more with him and might put him away, mind him for next year and take our time.
“He's had a run over hurdles and done that very well today. I'll have to talk to Frank (Berry, McManus' racing manager) and see what happens.”
McManus' earlier winners included E100,000 Dan Moore Chase winner Nearly Nama'd and novice chase winner Marlbrook
