The opening race this afternoon at Downpatrick, The Mr Baileys Maiden Hurdle was won by the Sean Treacy trained Diaconescu in the hands of Sean Flanagan who was deputising for the injured Paul Carberry.

Winning trainer Treacy said afterwards, "This is my first winner here in 2 years. We fancied this filly here today. We will probably go for a winner's of one with her or go novice chasing."
