Townend now ten clear
Paul Townend moved ten clear of Davy Russell in the jump jockey's championship when Bold Present made all in division two of the 2m5f handicap hurdle.
The well-backed 11/4 favourite made light of a 7lb rise in the ratings for a Navan win last month, finding plenty in the straight to put Townend on the 74 winner mark for the season.
The eight-year-old Presenting gelding (available at 5/1 in the morning) drew clear on the run-in to score by seven lengths from Givemeabuzz who edged out Fiery Oscar on the line for the runner-up berth.
“He got a freebie from the start and they seemed to let him go. All he does is gallop, and he'll go back to Navan for another handicap before going chasing,” said trainer Leonard Whitmore.
