Townend galvanises Riltree to victory
Paul Townend got a great tune out of Riltree after the last hurdle to win the two miles mares maiden hurdle at Sligo by a length and a half and in so doing restored his lead in the jockeys title to five over Davy Russell who had won the previous race.
Gary Davis, travelling head lad for Willie Mullins, said: "She's been knocking on the door in her last few runs. I'd say the better ground helped.
"Paul gave her a lovely ride. It's important for a mare to get a win under her belt."
Riltree was returned at 7/4 joint favourite. Black Rock Lake was second at 9/1 and Shady Pines completed the placings at 5/1. Presenting Ruby was the other 7/4 joint favourite and finished back in tenth.
