Former Champion Jockey Paul Townend completed a treble at his local Cork today, steering the Philip Rothwell trained Ballyburke to his maiden chase win, at the 12th attempt, in the INH Stallion Owners EBF Beginners Chase.
The winner led early in the straight and stayed on well to comfortably defeat Sammy Black
Rothwell was absent but Townend later stated “he came alive at the fourth last fence and I left him move on and his experience told. He idled on the way to the last but it was just a matter of getting to over it.”
